How many people voted early for Fred Thompson?
I'm doing a story on the February 5 elections (local, as well as the presidential primaries) for an upcoming alt-weekly issue. I plan to cover early voting in general; but today's announcement by former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson that he is no longer seeking the Republican nomination makes me wonder how many votes were (I won't say "wasted," but..) cast for him since early voting began on the 16th.
Do you have any anecdotal evidence to share? Do you know any Tennessee Fredheads who might be wishing they would have waited?

Interesting question.
You know, it's too late to get his name off the ballot. I wonder how many people will vote for him, oblivious to the news that he's dropped out of the race.

Alice unfortunately a lot will vote for him. Theyll wander in off the street and see his name on there and think well by golly theres old Fred. People just never learn. I had one democrat in Hohenwald tell me yesterday they were disappointed they couldnt vote for State Rep Joey Hensley when they voted for Hillary the other day. I didnt even bother trying to explain to them Hensley wont be on the ballot until November. I was afraid Id get a headache that wouldnt go away.
